Default ACKs Domains

Inspired by some discussion on the autarch.co forums and some posts by jedavis, I am going to be generating a series of ACKs domains as examples of what domains can look like and for use in campaigns. I will be using the base rules and default assumptions for the initial project, but future projects will explore how flexible the domain system can be.

Goals

  • Net Revenue for each NPC lord in the domain chain.
  • Tribute from each NPC vassal in the domain chain.
  • Available army for each NPC lord in the domain chain.
  • Loot from pillaging and razing each domain in the chain.
  • NPC lord factions and relationships.
  • Maps of target realms showing one or two levels of sub-division.

I will be generating three different example realms that will show the large end and small end of default domains.

  • A France-like Empire with 105 people per square mile and Fighter follower-based army generation.
  • A Greece-like Kingdom or Empire with 80 people per square mile and conscript-based army generation.
  • A Russia-like Kingdom with 40 people per square mile and a mix of Germanic barbarian infantry and steppe nomad cavalry.
Each realm will be published in three parts, one part for the top level lords of the realm, one part for the mid-level lords of a principality, and one part for the low-level lords of a county. This should provide plenty of example detail without becoming an overwhelming amount of information.

Tools Used
Land value will be 6 gp/family and domain populations will be from the "Revenue by Realm Type" table on p. 230 of the ACKs core book. Armies will be generated using Domains at War: Campaigns. NPC factions will be attempted with "Senatus Consultum Ultimum." I will be using the free version of hexographer to generate the maps.
